Sonata Earns Top IIHS Marks
Over recent years, as in-vehicle technology becomes more sophisticated and a slew of high-tech safety systems becomes the norm in many cars on the road, it has been becoming more and more difficult to earn top marks from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS). In order to receive a perfect score, you now need more than just passing crash tests with flying colors—you also need features like high-intensity headlights for improved visibility and an available forward collision detection system. Hyundai Sonata safety technology was more than up to the challenge, earning the Sonata the Top Safety Pick+ title for the 2018 model year.
The 2018 Hyundai Sonata passed the five IIHS crashworthiness tests with top ratings of “Good” in each category, from small overlap front to roof strength and head restraints. The Hyundai Sonata also earned a Superior rating in the front crash avoidance tech when equipped with optional technology, which with crashworthiness testing was enough to earn the Top Safety Pick. Adding in available curve-adaptive headlight technology, the Hyundai Sonata with high-beam assist earned extra points for improved invisibility to earn that coveted plus mark.
With a strong, reinforced body and plenty of tech features designed to provide a safer and more secure ride, the 2018 Hyundai Sonata earned the title of Top Safety Pick+ with ease. If you have more questions about Hyundai Sonata safety, call us at Randall Noe Hyundai.
